COLLABORATION WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF GJIROKASTER

The University of Ioannina and the University of Gjirokaster – as part of a Collaboration Protocol that was signed in 2002 with a view to establishing collaboration between them for the mutual enhancement of their educational and research activity – are jointly implementing a programme to upgrade the Department of Greek Language, Literature and Greek Culture of the University of Gjirokaster.   

The main aim of the programme was to upgrade the Departments’ programme of studies and to cover transportation and other costs relating to lectures given at the Department by the Faculty of the University of Ioannina. The Foundation for the Rehabilitation of Albanians of Greek Descent partially funded this programme for the academic years 2007-2008 and 2008-2009.

In October 2009, in collaboration with the University of Gjirokaster, the Foundation will awardtwo prizes for excellence to first-year undergraduate students of the Department of Greek Language, Literature and Greek Culture during the academic year 2008-2009.
